There are several reasons why the flooring is lacquered:
- for protection against injury, wear and tear and impurities;
- to gain brilliance;
- for easier maintenance.
In the past, the flooring was varnished with a mixture of two ingredients - natural or synthetic resin and hardener. Their purpose was to penetrate the surface layer of the tree and form a protective layer. The major weakness of these varnishes was that due to their hardness, they began to crack and flake a few years later. In recent years, varnishes have been made on the basis of polyurethane resins, which are both durable and soft. They are ready to use, easy to apply and have a high durability thanks to the resins they are made of. They may be water-based or solvent-based. Water based ones have several important advantages: they do not have a pungent odor, they dry quickly, tools are easy to clean with water.
The parquet floor to be lacquered should be perfectly clean, free of old varnish or grease residue. The first must be squeezed out to remove the top layer from the tree. This is done with a trowel, taking care not to carve the flooring. Proper cycling goes through three stages: the first cycles with a coarse-grained abrasive, the second time with a medium-sized abrasive and the third time with a fine-grained. Finally, the dust is carefully removed with a vacuum cleaner and then with a damp cloth.
Here are some simple rules for varnishing:
carefully read the instructions on the box before use;
some varnishes must be diluted on first application;
varnishing is carried out at room temperature 15-20 °;
while applying varnish, close all doors and windows in the room to prevent dust from falling on the non-dried varnish;
use a lacquer brush of suitable length;
the varnish should be applied in the direction of the threads of the tree;
the layer should be thin and even;
after drying, the parquet should be sanded and a second coat of varnish should be applied.
Quality coating is obtained by successively applying two, three or even four coats of varnish with fine sanding between them.
Coverage maintenance:
normally, the elbow is maintained by washing with a very watery zebra.
to keep the parquet shine, periodically parquet it.
when the varnish shows signs of aging - it loses its shine or worse, it starts to leak water, you need to renew it: sand with a fine sand and apply a new coat of varnish.
Stages of work:
1. Squeeze the entire lacquer surface with a cycling machine.
2. On a small surface, you can use a rolling machine with a roller.
3. Push out at the end and in inaccessible places with a cycling board.
4. Clean the dust with a vacuum cleaner and then with a damp cloth.
5. Apply a thin and even coat of lacquer by dragging the brush to prevent lacquer buildup.
6. The varnish is applied in the direction of the fibers of the tree.
7. After drying, sand with a sandpaper fixed to a flat surface with a large surface.
8. Clean the dust with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner and then with a rag.
9. Apply a second coat, then a third, repeating steps 7 and 8.
