Does your hardwood floors need refreshing? After the repair, there are marks from moving a piece of furniture and it annoys you? Need a quick fix but not sure exactly where to start?
In this post, we'll prepare you for what's to come and give you some valuable tips on how to organize your home before embarking on hardwood floors refinishing or any other type of flooring refresher activity.
What you need to know before refinishing your hardwood floors
No matter what the square footage of the parquet is, how old it is, how the parquet is laid or its condition, there are a few basic things that must be observed before the Multigroup teams come to refresh the parquet.
Remove furniture from the rooms
This is the very first step, of course after you have already called us. If you haven't already done so, it's time to remove all the furniture from the room where it will be cycled - this will reach absolutely all corners and places to get a thorough cleaning.
Here there is a case study related to the cycling itself, because even if one part needs to be cleaned, the entire floor must be sanded - you cannot compromise, otherwise the differences will be very noticeable.
Remove any big particles - dust, dirt, plaster
One of the biggest problems with parquet is that it can be scratched quite easily.
Do not walk into the room before you have removed absolutely all the dust, dirt or plaster, as your walking can drive the dirt into the array and cause even more damage.
Do not sweep as this can also cause damage, use a vacuum cleaner and start localized by limiting your movements.
Removing baseboards
To make the whole process easier, you can also remove the baseboards along the edges of the parquet. This will allow our teams to remove any small imperfections on the parquet and will make the whole process easier, without having to worry about damaging the baseboards.
If you are not confident in your ability to properly remove them without damage, then you can leave it to our team. In case you still want to complete the cycle and varnish more quickly, you can remove the baseboards beforehand.
Covering doors and windows
Since cycling is essentially sanding with a large rotary machine, a large amount of dust will be produced.
Our teams are equipped with machines that have built-in respiration that takes care of 99% of the dust particles, so the pollution will not be huge, but to guarantee full protection, we recommend you to seal windows and doors.
This will save you cleaning up afterwards, and you can be more sure that other parts of the object will not be affected by the cycling.
