For many of us, our cars rank among some of the most valuable things we own. However, a common problem is the presence of a garage that is completely cluttered, packed with a lot of unnecessary belongings, which leaves no room for your car. So we at Multigroup have decided to present you with some options on how to organize your garage.
Proper storage of your belongings will provide more free space, keep the room clean for longer, and therefore extend the life of your garage.
For starters, take at least two days to get your garage in order. We encourage you to invite a close friend who will gladly assist you with the task.
Start the process by removing all the items from your garage and stacking them according to the type of purpose. Inspect every single one of the items you own, all the packaged and unpacked items. You never know where something important can pop up from. Divide the items into three piles: items to keep, ones to sell and a pile of items to throw away.
It is a good idea to gift some of the items you do not need to a close friend or acquaintance. The items that you plan to dispose of we advise you to hire a company to dispose of the waste at the appropriate landfill, within an acceptable amount, to save time. (Our rates for garbage disposal start at ONLY $150 + Dump Fees across the Lower Mainland!)
Once you have completed the selection of items, the ones you will keep start stacking them in boxes. We advise you to use transparent boxes, it may not look very good visually, but it will give you great convenience when searching for a particular tool or item.
Don't miss out on safety. Most of you probably store different fuels, be it for the car, the motor or the mower. This in turn is a prerequisite for a fire, so always keep a fire extinguisher in the garage. Installing a smoke detector will also give you extra peace of mind.
When arranging things back in their places, be sure to arrange them according to their intended use. Items you use together and often should be stored close to each other. Place bulky objects in the corners of the garage where they will not endanger the integrity of your car. Place the most commonly used items near the garage door. And move seasonal or rarely used items to the hardest to reach places.
Always keep items in your garage away from the floor, of course when possible. This will give you much more space also it will prevent rodents to hide in places in your garage. You can buy ready-made shelving structures. This will allow you to more easily, quickly and efficiently clean your garage floor.
Our biggest advice is to do this at least twice a year and we guarantee that the dirt and lack of free space will no longer be a problem for you.
