What is Drywall?
Drywall is one of the most used and favorite building materials of any master renovator. Its indisputable qualities provide numerous opportunities for the construction of any type of suspended ceilings and "dressing" of walls.
Drywall is a special gypsum board covered with cardboard. There are different types of coatings that provide moisture resistance, fire resistance, thermal insulation, sound insulation and more.
Main Applications of Drywall
- Construction of suspended ceilings
- Construction of partition walls
- Construction of wall covering (including in wet rooms)
Suspended Ceilings
Suspended ceilings are considered all ceilings that are lowered at some distance from the main ceiling. The minimum distance is about 4-5 cm, but it can be much larger.
Construction of suspended ceiling is done with the help of plasterboard panels, which are mounted on single or double grill. If the room is small, mounting on a single grill is recommended. For larger rooms it is better to use a double as the ceiling becomes much more flexible and durable and grips the main ceiling at fewer points.
Benefits of suspended ceilings
Suspended ceilings are an extremely beautiful element of the interior of any room. They bring luxury, coziness and space, and allow you to whirl your imagination, break shapes and turn your home into the dream home!
There are many possibilities for decoration, the most used being the incorporation of concealed lighting in the suspended ceiling, which gives a unique style and design.
You can also install speakers, conceal electrical wires, air ducts installations, as well as providing thermal and noise insulation thanks to the construction of a suspended ceiling in combination with mineral or stone wool.
Construction of Front Panels and Partition Walls
Partition walls and walls are a great way to level the often uneven walls of rooms in your apartment, house, office, etc., and make extra rooms for even more functionality.
Gypsum plasterboards can be mounted on a metal structure or glued directly to the base. They allow decorating the interior with columns, arches and other decorative elements that give a unique aesthetic look.
Plasterboard partition walls are made to separate larger rooms into two or more smaller ones. They are constructed with panels of different thickness, depending on the function of the new spaces. They also allow the placement of different insulation materials between the panels, which provides high-quality thermal and noise insulation.
Drywall construction is the preferred method of operation for several main reasons:
- Quick placement of plasterboard boards
- Clean work (without wet processes)
- Harmless to the human body
- Numerous possibilities for construction and decoration in the premises
- Providing a flawlessly smooth base that can then be glued to wallpaper, tile, latex painted and many more options
